Our Services
We offer a wide range of audiological services to suit all of your hearing and audiology needs.
Our Services
At Solo Audiology and Hearing, we proudly provide a wide range of audiological service offerings for both private and government funded clients.
If you are an Australian pension card holder, you could be eligible for subsidised audiological services from the Hearing Services Program. You can read more about this in our Frequently Asked Questions section of the website.
Full Diagnostic Hearing Assessment
Comprehensive discussion of your history and needs, followed by a full battery diagnostic audiological assessment, including; video otoscopy, tympanometry, acoustic reflex screening, pure-tone audiometry (air and bone conduction), speech-in-quiet testing, and speech-in-noise testing.
If intervention and/or rehabilitation is recommended, this will be discussed in the same appointment.
A detailed clinical report is also provided for every assessment.
Prescription Hearing Aid Fittings
Prescribed hearing aid fitting completely tailored to your individual needs based on your degree and type of hearing loss, lifestyle, dexterity, vision, and any other concerns expressed by you.
The hearing aids are fitted to you and verified using real ear measurements and live aided speech testing. You will then be shown how to use, clean, and maintain the devices.
Ear Wax Removal
Ear wax is produced in our ears for good reason. It protects and naturally cleans the ears by trapping dust, bacteria, and foreign bodies. It also contains antibacterial properties that help to prevent infection, and it keeps the ear canal moisturised.
However, when ear wax builds up in the canal this can lead to wax occlusion which can then have an effect on hearing or even your hearing aids.
We use a gentle, professional wax removal process called microsuction, which is complemented with the use of curette where required.
Save My Hearing Aid!
Did you get your hearing aids from a clinic, but you are just not happy with the way they sound or the support you received? Need a second opinion or revival on your hearing aids programming or set up?
This special 'Save My Hearing Aid!' appointment is just for you.
In this appointment, your needs will be discussed in depth - what you like, what you don't like, what's working, and what's not.
Your audiologist will then clean your hearing aids, check that they are suitable for your needs, and completely reprogram them from scratch if necessary. Leaning on Daniel's expertise in hearing aid programming and adjustments, we will get your hearing aids running as best as they can.
Tinnitus Management
Tinnitus can be described in many different ways - ringing, buzzing, humming, roaring, rushing, pulsing - etc!
If you experience tinnitus, it's important to alert your audiologist during your hearing assessment.
If required, we can support you to learn ways to help manage your tinnitus.
Custom Hearing Protection
Whilst not all causes of hearing loss is preventable, noise-induced hearing loss certainly is!
We will create fully customised hearing protection for whatever your personalised needs are: work, sleep, music, studying, shooting, swimming, etc!
This requires two separate appointments:
Appointment 1 - an impression is taken of your ear canal so the plug can be made precisely to all of the shapes and contours of each ear. We will also recommend which type of hearing protection would best suit your needs.
Appointment 2 - we will check that the hearing protection fits your ears perfectly, and provide instruction on how to insert and care for them.
Assistive Listening Devices
Hearing aids alone can still be limited in certain situations. Assistive listening devices are hearing devices that are used to complement your hearing aids to help meet your needs in its entirety (for example, a Roger remote microphone system).
Other assistive listening devices may also be prescribed instead of a hearing aid, when only a specific need must be met (for example, a TV headset).
You will then also be shown how to use, clean, and maintain your device.
Paediatric Diagnostic Hearing Assessment
Due to equipment, we are able to test children who are able to complete the adult-style testing. Typically, this is from around age 7 but can vary from child to child. Please note, we do not provide CAPD assessments.
Comprehensive discussion of your history and needs, followed by a full battery diagnostic audiological assessment, including; video otoscopy, tympanometry, acoustic reflex screening, pure-tone audiometry (air and bone conduction), speech-in-quiet testing, and speech-in-noise testing (where appropriate).
A detailed report is provided.
If intervention and/or rehabilitation is recommended, this will be discussed in the same appointment.
Children and young adults under the age of 26 with a diagnosed permanent or long-term hearing loss will be referred to Hearing Australia. Please refer to the Australian Government's Hearing Services Program website for further information: Eligibility for the Hearing Services Program | Australian Government Department of Health, Disability and Ageing
